Pattern Testing: Sloane Sweater by Love Notions

If you’ve read this blog very much, you’ll know Love Notions is one of my all-time favorite pattern designers. Their patterns are so well drafted, the instructions are very clear, the sizing is always spot on, and they are on trend to boot! You can imagine how thrilled I was to be chosen to test their newest release. I’ve applied probably 5 or 6 other times for some of their other patterns, and never been chosen until now. I had to try super hard not to fan girl every time Tami, the pattern designer, commented on any of my posts within the testing group.  She’s a fantastic designer and so gracious, and I was just really happy I had this opportunity.

Anyway, enough of my adoration for Love Notions.* Let’s talk about the pattern! The Women’s Sloane Sweater* got a face lift with some fun new updates, and they released a girl’s version of the Sloane Sweater* as well. I got to test the girl’s version. This pattern is really two completely different sweaters in one pattern. Version A is a longer, more fitted bodice with a curved hem. Version B is a boxier look with a banded hem at the bottom. PLUS you can add a hood, elbow patches, kangaroo pocket, or an accent back yoke to create so many different looks.

During testing, I was assigned the version B (boxy, banded hem) with a hood. I had two coordinating sweater knits that had been hiding in my stash for probably three years! This fabric was long overdue to be used and this pattern gave me the perfect project for it. I made my twins size 4T and the fit was just what I would expect. These sweaters look so cozy and my girls really love their “hats” (aka hoods!) This pattern was not difficult at all, and I know I’ll be making more in the future. I saw some really cute pictures come through the testing group of version A with the accent back yoke that I’d really like to try. I had hoped to make another version before this blog post, but I have too many irons in the fire at this point, so it will have to wait. But now that I have the women’s and girl’s version of the Sloane, you know there are some Mommy and Me sweaters coming in my near future!

Both the Women’s* and the Girl’s Sloane Sweaters* are on sale to celebrate the new release. Or you can buy them as a bundle* and save even more. Pick up your copies today so you can create some cozy sweaters for this fall!

These two are a hoot!
