Love Notions Handmade Holiday Tour
Welcome to my stop on the Love Notions Handmade Holiday Tour! When the theme of this tour was announced, I was outright giddy! Not only do I love the Christmas season, but I love giving handmade gifts! In my family, we had the tradition of drawing names and making a handmade gift for a sibling. I come from a family of six kids, and it was always a fun way to show love to each other. This year is actually the first year we decided to forgo gifts. We took a vote this summer and decided since we are all getting older and have our own families now plus we are spread out across the country and won’t all be together that is was time to be done with sibling gifts. I did vote to be done, but now that Christmas time has rolled around, I’m kinda sad about it! Even though I won’t be making handmade gifts for my siblings, I do have several other people on my list that I will be making gifts for.

First up are my mom and my mother-in-law. I told both of them they could pick any clothing item and I would make it for them. Both of them chose a dress. I’ve finished my mom’s dress and hope to start on my mother-in-law’s dress this week. Sorry no pictures, because they both read this blog, (I think!) and I don’t want to spoil it! I will say, I’m contemplating a Ladies Bluzette for my MIL. I let her look through my patterns and that was one of the ones she really liked. I’ve made several for myself that I absolutely love! I’ll post a picture of one of mine below…
Next up is my new nephew, Luke. A couple of years ago, I drew my sister, Emily, for Christmas. She had just gotten married, so I made Christmas stockings for her and her husband. They had their first baby this October, so he needed to have a matching one! I’m sad I’m not around to help my sister with her first baby, and I probably won’t even get to meet him until this summer. This is my way of showing my sister I’m supporting her from afar! She already has all three of them hanging now and texted me a photo.
Finally, I love making gifts for my three daughters! Every year, they get a new pair of leggings to wear when meeting Santa. This year, was the first year I tried the Leggin’s* pattern by Love Notions. I’m hooked! These are the best leggings pattern ever! I love that they have the option for an elastic waistband OR a knit yoga band. My girls love how comfy the yoga band is. And the best part is this pattern is FREE! So if you don’t own it yet, go download it.
I have a few other handmade gifts in mind for the kids, but I’m quickly running out of time! I’m planning to make their Christmas dresses, hopefully this week. I haven’t even decided what I’m doing yet! Last year, I made them the Skater skirt* also by Love Notions and also FREE! I made myself a Love Notions Sybil Pencil skirt* to match, and we had the cutest Mommy and Me outfits at church on Christmas Day. Their skirts actually still fit this year, albeit they are more of mini skirts now, hahahaha. So If I get desperate and run out of time, we’ll have a repeat of last year. I also want to make homemade bath bombs, mermaid tail blankets, socks, and underwear for my girls for Christmas. Like I said, running out of time here! In fact, I’m going to go put the kids to bed right now so I can get to work!
