Dress Up This Town Blog Tour: Bluezette Dress

Welcome to my stop on the Dress Up This Town Blog tour hosted by Sewing with Ti. I am a stay at home mom of three toddlers. I don’t exactly get dressed up or go out on the town very often. I thought this tour would give me the perfect excuse to make something fancy and go on a date with my husband! Then, I realized our wedding anniversary was coming up and knew I would have the perfect occasion to get dolled up and hit the town, sans kids!

I decided as part of my anniversary gift to my husband, I wouldn’t spend any more money on this dress. I wouldn’t order new fabric or buy a new pattern. It’s not like I don’t have a giant shelf full of fabric or a computer file full of patterns, yet it was still a challenge not to let myself buy more! But I’m happy to report I held strong!

I searched my stash and found this beatiful double brushed poly fabric that I bought from KnitPop during their Black Friday sale last year. I’d been saving it for a special occasion and this dress seemed to warrant it’s usage. You guys, this fabric is like BUTTER! It’s so soft, and I may or may not have found myself stroking it all night while wearing it…..

As for the pattern, I decided to go with the Bluzette Dress by Love Notions. ((Affiliate Link: if you purchase something through this link, I may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.)The pattern has SO many options for the bodice, skirt, and sleeves. When I bought it two years ago, I told myself I’d never need to buy another dress pattern because I could make so many different looks with this one pattern. Well…. I made it once, loved it, and then just hadn’t gotten around to making another one.  I recently followed another blog tour celebrating the two year anniversary since this pattern was released. It reminded me I needed to sew another one. And I’m so glad I did! I did the blousy-style bodice, short sleeves, and tulip maxi skirt. Not only have I never made a maxi dress before, I’ve also never even owned one! SHOCKING confession, I know! Needless to say, this will not be my last maxi dress. I feel stylish, beautiful, and comfortable in this dress!

By the way, aren’t my lilies gorgeous!
Love this tulip hem!

The hubby and I went to dinner at a little Italian place and went to a play at a local theater afterwards. Nothing too fancy, but trust me when I tell you anything without the kiddos around is the best date ever! (Love them to pieces, but need a break every once in a while!) We celebrated 7 years of wedded bliss. I sure love that man!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. This is a month long tour and each week of the tour features a different giveaway. Don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter to win some cool prizes this week. Thank you so much to our sponsors!

Wow!! You and the dress are both gorgeous! I made some leggings with that fabric, but it looks much better as a dress.

I totally agree, this dress is so beautiful. It suits you very well. I love especially how the fabric falls here – that looks comfy yet still very elegant.

Maxi dresses (and skirts) are fabulous. They seem fancy, yet they’re SO comfy. Too bad they’re such fabric hogs.

Right? I actually managed to squeeze this one out of 2 yards but some patterns I’ve used almost 3!
